Showers fail in a few predictable ways
A mixer that drips from the head, a temperature that will not hold steady, or water appearing on the floor outside the cubicle. Each has a usual cause, and we check the likely one first rather than pulling the wall apart.
The one to move on quickly is water where it should not be. A shower leaking behind the wall or under the tray does damage you cannot see.
Repair or upgrade?
A worn cartridge or a failed seal is a repair. A cracked tray, a leaking liner or a mixer that has been repaired twice already is where we talk about a new shower. If you are planning a bathroom refresh anyway, that conversation belongs on our renovation page.

Done properly

Common questions
Water is coming out under the shower door. Is that a plumbing leak?
Often it is a seal or a door sweep rather than the plumbing, and that is a cheaper fix. We check the waste and the tray first, because a leak there needs sorting before anything else.
Why does my shower go cold when someone flushes the toilet?
Low pressure or an unbalanced mixer. A pressure-balancing or thermostatic mixer holds the temperature steady, and a mains pressure upgrade fixes the cause.
Can you replace the mixer without retiling?
Usually. Most modern mixers fit the existing wall opening, and where they do not we tell you before we start.
