Stop before it overflows
If the bowl is filling, do not flush again. Turn the water off at the little valve beside the cistern, or lift the cistern lid and hold the float up. Then call us with your suburb and what you have already tried.
A plunger fixes a toilet that is blocked at the pan. It does nothing for a blockage further down the line, which is where most repeat problems live.
One toilet, or the whole house?
A single slow toilet is usually a local blockage. A toilet that gurgles when the shower drains, or backs up along with the sink, means the blockage is in the main line and every fixture is on the same clock.

Common questions
Can I use drain cleaner in the toilet?
Please do not. Caustic cleaners rarely reach the blockage, they damage older pipework, and they make the job unpleasant for whoever clears it. Turn the water off and call us.
Why does my toilet gurgle when the washing machine drains?
Air is being pushed back through the toilet because the main line is partly blocked or the vent is restricted. That is a main line problem, not a toilet problem.
Will you have to remove the toilet?
Rarely. Most blockages are cleared through the pan or from the gully trap outside. If the suite has to come off we tell you first.
