Already tried the supermarket stuff?
Plungers, bicarb and the blue bottle will shift a soft blockage near the plughole. They do nothing for a blockage further down the line, and caustic cleaners can damage older pipes.
If it has come back, or the water is not moving at all, the blockage is past the point of home remedies. Stop pouring things down it and get a blocked drain plumber to clear it at the source.
Blocked sink or shower drain?
A kitchen sink that blocks every few months is fat and food waste building up on a rough section of pipe. A shower that drains slowly is hair and soap at the waste or the trap. A basin that gurgles is often a vent problem rather than a blockage.
We unblock sink wastes, traps and blocked shower drains at the source, tell you which it was, and how to stop it coming back. If both the sink and the shower are slow, the blockage is usually in the main line, and we clear it from the gully trap.
We find the cause, not just the symptom
A blockage that keeps coming back has a reason: a belly in the pipe, roots at a joint, a collapsed section, or a gully trap that was never quite right. Clearing it once is the easy bit. We tell you what caused it and whether it is a one-off or something to fix, so you are not paying for the same job twice.
If it is a broken or root-bound drain, the repair is done and certified by our licensed drainlayer. Verify on the PGDB register.

Blocked drain questions
Do you charge a call-out fee?
Yes, a $50 call-out. Tell us what is blocked and we talk you through the visit before anything is booked. You get the price before we start, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Who clears the drain?
A licensed tradesman from HW Group. Our drainlayer is licensed, so if the blockage turns out to be a broken or root-bound pipe, the repair is done and certified by us too.
My sink is draining slowly but it is not fully blocked. Can it wait?
It can, but slow drains rarely fix themselves. The build-up slowing it now is what blocks it completely next month. Clearing it early is the cheaper job.
Will drain cleaner from the supermarket damage my pipes?
Caustic cleaners can soften older plastic waste pipes and they do nothing for a physical blockage further down the line. If you have already poured some down, tell us before we start so we can work safely.
Why does my shower back up when the washing machine drains?
Both fixtures share a line and it is partly blocked downstream of the join. That is a main line clear, and we check the gully trap first.
Do I need to be home while you clear it?
For an inside blockage, yes, we need access. For an outside gully trap or drain, we can often do it while you are out if you give us the go-ahead by phone.
